After his interview in the upcoming issue of Playboy Magazine, John Mayer has realized he was hitting the edge of his character once again.

In the March issue of Playboy surfaced yesterday—where he describes Jessica Simpson as “sexual napalm” and drops the N bomb when discussing his African-American fanbase—the 32-year-old rocker apologized last night on stage at Nashville’s Sommet Center.

“In the quest to be clever I completely forgot about the people that I love and the people that love me,” Mayer said during a five-minute apology in which he teared up at certain points. Watch Mayer attempt to pull the foot out of his mouth below.

The singer admitted that he’s fallen “into a whirlpool of selfishness and greenness and arrogance, and thinking that if I would just continue to be speedy and witty and pull together as many fast words and phrases as I could, that I could be clever enough to buy myself another day without thinking that anybody would finally pin me down and say, ‘you’re a creep’.”

British fashion designer McQueen found dead at 40

LONDON -- His runway shows were often like performance pieces: One featured models with headwear made of trash. Another showed off 10-inch heels shaped like lobster claws.

At the pinnacle of his success, British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his home Thursday, days after posting anguished online remarks about the death of his mother. He was 40.

The circumstances pointed to a possible suicide, but there was no confirmation from police or McQueen's publicists.

Authorities said the death was not suspicious, apparently ruling out foul play. They did not indicate how McQueen was discovered.

The Sun tabloid cited an anonymous source on its Web site who said workers found McQueen hanging in his apartment. The newspaper gave no further details. His family issued a statement asking for privacy.

McQueen is credited with helping revive the once-moribund British fashion industry. His edgy pieces were coveted and treasured by stylish women across the globe and seen on numerous red carpets.

The Oscars Surprises

Every year, there are newbies and all-time favorites who are included in the nominations list in Academy Awards. Last year, Slumdog Millionaire was the surprise big winner to almost anyone, and this year there also some snubs and surprises.

The lead-acting categories looked exactly as everyone expected them to (Bridges, Clooney Firth, Freeman, and Renner; Bullock, Mirren, Mulligan, Sidibe, and Streep), so the snubs of long-shot hopefuls Nine's Daniel Day-Lewis, A Serious Man's Michael Stuhlbarg, Brothers' Tobey Maguire, The Road's Viggo Mortensen, and The Informant!'s Matt Damon for Best Actor, and Bright Star's Abbie Cornish, The Young Victoria's Emily Blunt, and The Lovely Bones' Saoirse Ronan for Best Actress had been pretty much anticipated for months.

There's some slight drama in the supporting categories, though: Matt Damon's Best Supporting Actor nomination for Invictus came at the expense of either Me and Orson Welles's Christian McKay, An Education's Alfred Molina, or The Hurt Locker's Anthony Mackie . For Best Supporting Actress, Crazy Heart's Maggie Gyllenhaal was the surprise, taking the spot that most figured would go to A Single Man's Julianne Moore (and some speculated might go to Nine's Marion Cotillard, The Messenger's Samantha Morton, or Inglourious Basterds' Melanie Laurent or Diane Kruger). None of this really matters, though, since those supporting Oscars will definitely go to Basterds' Christoph Waltz and Precious' Mo'Nique.
